My receipt was saying that I have driven 806 miles. Although I went to Sugar Land and back, and it is like 100 miles max. I came back and asked the guy to double check the mileage, and he refused. Told me they do not charge for mileage. But why did he do that? To drive it himself for free elsewhere? Who knows... One of the worst rental experiences ever.
They will scam you out of your money one way or another. Beware of the toll charge scam, go ahead and accept the $12 per day for the electronic toll pass, otherwise you'll get $150 bill several weeks later to pay for $4 in toll charges.
Will never use Thrifty again after IAH experience. Prepaid rental but Thrifty slipped in charges for upgrade and GPS (both not requested). This resulted in a doubling of the rental charges! Thrifty prey on jet-lagged travelers. Corp office finally agreed to some reduction in charges but would not waive. Avoid.
Rip-off. Please, avoid. When I was reserving an economy car online my total was $223 for 4 days. When I was picking up the car they did not have any in that class and upgraded it to a compact, they added insurance and a million of other hidden charges, and my total suddenly turned into $750. I was pressed for time and took that deal. The next evening I dropped off the car because it was too expensive and my bill already was $335. For a freaking compact for a day and a few more hours. Can you believe it? I cannot.
I rented a car from there 2 month ago and it was expected of a rental car place. I went back to rent a van and it was a totally different experience. Everyone had a nasty attitude except for the woman that checked us out. The van was horrible. It was dirty, the back door wouldn't open all the time, and there was a smell coming from the back of the van like dead crawfish. It was the only van there to chose from and they couldn't do anything about. I will never do business with this place again.
It's always a great experience when renting from Thrifty. Being a BlueChip member doesn't matter anymore. With the new policy in effect, when renting locally from the airport locations they do a credit check each time you rent using a Debit card without a plane ticket. So I'm back to waiting in line unless I use my credit card...
