After waiting for almost 5 hours at UTMB, only to be told that the specialist that we had been told was with another patient actually WASN'T there and wouldn't be in until 7am IF she came in then, I took my daughter to Texas Children's. Her nurse, Alma, was amazing and so helpful in getting us in quickly. Texas Children's will ALWAYS be my first choice of hospital for my daughter. Thank you so much.

The service here has been exceptionally great. We will be checking out this morning, but from the time I brought my son in all the way up onto now I have NOT ONE complaint. My baby had to have surgery due to appendicitis and he was handled with great care. The surgeon came in introduced himself along with everyone else and called me when they were wrapping up to let me know how great things went. In the waiting area there is a guy (forgot his name) that gets updates and comes and tell the families through out the surgical process which I like. Who ever thought it was a good idea for the family to be able to follow the surgical process was right. They monitored my child and made sure he can do everything on his own before we leave today. They constantly asked if they could get me anything the ENTIRE time I have been here. Everyone down from the surgical team (which has came to check on him twice within the past 8 hours) the nures, the patient assistants , everyone who has helped us GREAT JOB.

I don't spend time doing these things, but I think it worth for this place. Short answer: IF YOU HAVE TO TAKE YOUR KID TO AN ER DON'T GO TO TEXAS CHILDREN, IT'S A JOKE! A way better place is Women hospital of Texas (Pediatrics). Way way way better! Long Answer: I have been in Texas Children twice with my son. first time in the ER as he swallowed a coin and second time just to do X-rays and blood test. I have been in hospitals in different countries (even public hospitals in my home country) and Texas Children hospital is the worse experience ever. Waiting time is a joke. For the first time I arrived there about 8pm and left about 5am, but I understood as it was in the evening, they had to go look for doctors to do the endoscopy etc, etc. But second time, just blood tests and X ray, the place was empty with nobody before us and it took us 5 hours to leave the place, so I realize it's a real issue. In the ER, the service is very low level as well. There was no drinking water available. I asked water for somebody in there and 30 minutes later I had to ask again as they forgot to bring. The blood test, both times they hurt my kid trying to find his vein in different places, and I had to stop them and ask somebody with experience to do it with kids. During the first time, we were sitting there in the ER room with no information. Waiting, waiting and when I asked something nobody would know anything and they just told me that they would get back to me soon. So, Yesterday my son had another issue and his pediatric (that is not from there) asked me to bring him there to do exams and I decided to raise my concern and say I didn't want to go there, so she sent me to Houston hospital of Women and it's a completely different level! No wait time, blood work done with no pain for the kid and in just 1 attempt, from the valet guy to the nurses, to the doctors all first level service. So I guarantee I will never get back to Texas Children again with other options available.

The Texas Children Cardiology department is one of the most inactive Doctors ever. They do not act fast and don’t tell you when things are getting serious. They failed to tell us about my brother disease how fatal it was and they should’ve acted before and explained more clearly. My brother was a patient since he was 13 but since they start to see he was getting more ill, they didn’t know what to do and just transferred him to Methodist. Where he never got out. My brother is not suffering anymore but Texas Children failed medically. Dr. Lam especially.

Been here twice in past month with two different kids for two completely different treatments; one Emergency Room, the other a scheduled appointment. Both experiences exceeded my expectations in 1) customer service, 2) patient care, 3) facilities, and 4) staff knowledge, skill, and professionalism. Thank you Texas Children's! Not only did you care for our kids, but you also made our own parent stress levels a lot more manageable!
