I live near by so for me going there was more efficient than calling but I can only speak for my experience and it was a good one.
A consulate is the face and representation of the country of Colombia and its such an embarrassment and unprofessional representation of a beautiful country. PLEASE look at other consulate websites and use that as an example of how a website should be. Please hire proper English speakers to design the English portion of the website after all it is in an English speaking territory and PLEASE improve your application forms they are confusing and please allow guests to be able to book appointments online with appointment availabilities showing. Am very displeased as are many of the people who have posted reviews. Absolutely terrible.
I returned on a Friday to pick up my passport and it was packed- but I went to the window and was able to get done in less than twenty minutes. Both day I experience great customer service and can say that those around me were receiving the same treatment.
If you make your appointment and have all ykur psperwork in order. Before you. Arrive. Your in and out. Quickly. Ive never had any. Rude customerservice. Issues. And. People need to remember. Once your in that office your no longet in the usa. Thats. Colombian soil. So be respect full and you will be treated with respect. Remember to. Have your payment in money order. When you arrive.
My service was both first time Cedula and Passport - I went on a Tuesday and made the appointment prior to visiting, but I do admit that I am not entirely sure if making an appointment was necessary but I recommend everyone to do it- JUST IN CASE. I saw a lot of walk ins and they were busy but I felt that they were very friendly and I got done with both of my appointments within the one hour and a half projected time.
Tipical south american burocracy.. Informal. This people are so disorganized and unproffesional. The process to get a tourist visa includes about 5 hours of wait time for no reason and a couple of trips to the same office. There is no clear instructions on their website, there is no phone support nor replies to email inquires. Money orders cost 10 dollars to buy onsite so it might be best to make a trip to the bank and come back..
The only reason the Consulate of Colombia in Houston gets one star is because Google won't let me give them 0 stars. Absolutely awful, terrible service or lack thereof actually. 1.They NEVER answer the phone 2. The website is amateurish. The information is not clear enough; it doesn't tell whether visits are by walk in or appointments it doesn't even allow you to make an appointment or show availability for appointments. The English is poor broken grammar.
When you walk in (4th floor) there is a list of the prices for every service - they only take money orders ( I was prepared, but I did see a few people that were not prepared and they allowed them to step out and get a money order and come back to take care of them - they were nice about it).
i just called today and they did answer the phone ,the customer service representative was really kind , knowledgeable and explained all of the details on what i needed to do ,i feel very pleased with their customer service over the phone
