Closed till further notice due to hurricane harvey
I spent morning at the courtroom of Hon. Jeff Williams - and was watching his work, about 10+ cases he was trying to resolve. In short: I am very impressed by his pursuit of impartial judgment, classy attitude and overall handling of all those cases. I lost my own case but my confidence in justice, and specifically in his court, is the reward I am taking with me.
The court house is still closed from the flooding. The website says nothing about that nor does anything on Google. Thanks... for nothing.
It is probably close to a universal truth that nobody really likes having to go down to the courthouse, anywhere or any time. It is just something we have to do sometimes. It might be to register a vehicle, file a business record, obtain a marriage license, resolve a traffic ticket or attend a court proceeding and yet we know such a simple matter will test our patience and press our time to the max. It is just the nature of the beast. But, I can tell you from my own experiences in over 23 years of practicing law in virtually every courthouse in and around Harris County, Texas, this court - Harris County Justice of the Peace, Precinct 5, Place 2 - has some of the finest, pleasant, efficient and professional folks working there that you could ever want to have. This is a 5-star courthouse if there ever was one. It is not about the building, it is about the people inside.
It's never a fun gig to have to go to a court house, or have to call them, but every time I have had to call I am amazed at how nice these folks are. Lines are long, but folks behind the counter are cool.
