I have honestly never written a review, however, I felt compelled to do so in this case. After moving to Houston 6 years ago my husband was referred to James at Specialized Auto. We have been loyal customers ever since because we continue to be impressed with the quality of service we receive. Not only is James a talented mechanic, but he truly cares about customer service and satisfaction. He will often call us after a repair to insure that we are completely satisfied with the service. James will also often go the extra mile to check out everything even though we may have just gone in for an oil change. This is very reassuring given that our vehicle is aging and I am usually driving with kids in the car. We have often thought about buying a new car, but James has done such a great job keeping our car running well, that we really don't feel the need. He is honest and extremely capable. James will truly go above and beyond to solve whatever problem you are having with your car. He also works in a timely and efficient manner so that you don't have to be without your car for any longer than is absolutely necessary.
3 years ago I went in for my inspection at my dealership. They told me I needed $650 worth of work before I could pass inspection. I felt kinda helpless.. I called around and asked everyone about what the dealer told me and got price quotes. Specialized Auto Repair was the only place that said, well. i can price you, but i really dont know what you need. They felt more comfortable evaluating the vehicle and letting me know what I needed. I immediately took my car to them. After checking it out they came to the conclusion that yes, next inspection I will need new tires.. but not yet.. My belt is wearing out - lets keep an eye on it (which i had done a year later) but not necessary to have done to pass. the only thing they thought was an urgent issue was my battery, which wasn't needed for inspection (as my dealer told me) but they would STRONGLY recommend it. I chose to have my battery done and pause on the other items. I eventually did - but it allowed me to do as I could afford.
I greatly enjoyed the effective and professional communication, quick and high-quality maintenance work, and low cost of the service. In the future I will use exclusively this shop for all my car maintenance and repair needs in Houston.
A great neighborhood mechanic. Can do just about anything. Have worked with him for years and I have 5 cars. Just wanted to say, Thank you for a great job.
James and his people do a fantastic job. I took two used cars there after purchase and asked him to take a look and see what needed to be done. They did thorough inspections, gave me quotes and did the work quickly, after I approved the work that I wanted done. I have never seen such good attention to detail with auto repair.

As a Single Chick in Houston from Philadelphia who has no good auto connections here - I feel confidant that Specialized Auto Repair will hook me up and take care of me. Don't go to the other guys. these people will tell you straight up what you need. they will encourage you but understand if it is out of budget for the moment.
