Rice Village is a common shopping area among college students or travelers to Houston. Right now construction is going on but the shops are still accessible. There are food places as well as book stores and places such as Bath & Body Works and white horse black market. They also have a Yankee Candle Store there. There is much more to see and do in the area.
crowded, hard to park, expensive. There are a few gems that warrant a visit but the struggle with the crowds makes it a bit of a pain. Lots of chain outlets that have better locations elsewhere. The Village has lost much of its uniqueness & charm and is turning into a compressed mall.
Enjoy this place but some things are very pricey. If you don't mind the youth than it's a great place to just look around. Maybe shop around or have dessert. Not a big variety of food options but lots of dessert and shopping.
The Village is fantastic, offering one of the few walkable shopping/wining/dining locations in Houston. There are a few more chains there than I would prefer but, overall, there is far more good than bad.
Fun area to do some shopping. The area has great bars and restaurants for doing your shopping, eating and relaxing. Downside, is there is hardly ever any parking, so be prepared to pay for parking at the new (2016) meters. You can park in the parking garage, located near Black Walnut Cafe (great place to eat) and it is free for a little while. They post the rates and how long you can park for free.
