This was definitely my worst barbeque experience so far. I could have gone to another restaurant and gotten better quality food for cheaper.
I was overall disappointed with my experience at Pappa Charlie's Barbeque. I ordered the Two-meat plate which came with a choice of two meats and two sides. I ended up trying the brisket and sausage with a side of potato salad and mac n' cheese. For the price, everything was pretty bland tasting. Especially the meat. The potato salad was tolerable, but the mac n' cheese was so dry and tasteless that I ended up not even finishing it all. The brisket seemed too chewy, almost as if it was under-cooked. I also wasn't given much BBQ sauce.
I've enjoyed Pappa Charlies BBQ since they were serving out of a trailer with a window at Jackson's and have thoroughly enjoyed it every time I've had it. The meats are so tender and juicy and the sides are an added bonus! The BBQ sauce is delicious, I love the extra kick you get from it! Keep up the good work guys!
We left Texas for Colorado in 2008 and have missed Texas BBQ ever since. Was in town for work and coworker and I visited for lunch. Brisket was awesome-juicy/smoky/tender. The thin sheath of fat on top was killer. If you're anti-fat, deal with it. Coworker shared ribs which were great also. Good collard greens.
Not impressed. A place with Zagat ratings should impress in some way. Maybe the beer? I don't drink. Food was good. Mac n cheese was yummy. A different twist on BBQ sauce if you like it spicy. Restrooms not stocked well on a Saturday game night.
Let me start by stating that my party and I were NOT impressed. We were actually quite disappointed. Only 2 out of 8 of us were satisfied. I don't mind paying for quality but the meats were the only item that we enjoyed. Their sauce is not your typical bbq sauce. It's thinner and more comparable to a hot sauce with tangy flavor. Their coleslaw is hard and spicy. The potato salad is made from big pieces of potato and was flavorless. They were also out of pinto beans, sausage, and served a lot of fat with the brisket. For what we paid, we could have gotten a way better meal elsewhere.
