The parking is free but very limited. We had to drive around a few times and wait for some people to leave, so if you're looking to park for free, I recommend coming during slower hours.

Love this place. The peddle boats open til 5pm on weekends for $11. The bike rentals for $3. The little snack bar has amazing sandwiches and chicken fingers and staff is like family. Always beyond friendly even without a.c. that day they all smiled. Ps. The manager should get a portable a.c. unite!!!

This Park is a Houston landmark. Right in the heat of the museum district and adjoining the zoo, this large park serves as an oasis during the hot summer months. The open air theatre hosts many incredible evening shows throughout the summer season. You can walk your dog, go for a run or just sit back and relax on the lush grass mounds. With plentiful parking available, Herman Park is a must visit for all Houston families and tourists.

Big park that used to be a nice place for families to even throw birthday parties. It was also great for picnics and BBQ on weekends. But now it's all neglected and it has become a spot for homeless in one side of the park. The restrooms are very, very dirty and get no maintenance. Less and less families take their children to the playgrounds because of all this. The floor in the sprinkling area for children is also neglected, it needs to be cleaned, children go barefoot to play in the water and it looks unsanitary. I used to visit this park years ago and it was beautiful, but now it looks almost completely abandoned.

Awesome park surrounded by hospitals and across from Rice U. Natures oasis in middle of city full of jewels and surprises.. Park has beautiful Japanese Garden, Houston Zoo, Miller Outdoor Theatre, several playgrounds & water areas, jogging, walking & bike trails. Quiet places to meditate and several art installations. Lots of free parking in zoo lots and limited street parking.

I came for the Japanese garden specifically, which was great, but the whole park looked nice. There are plenty of places to sit, but be careful on a hot, sunny day. There isn't a lot of shade along the walking paths.
